Cuando era una niña, la clase de Lara fue de excursión al volcán Kyushu. Allí Lara encontró un árbol gigante donde se encontraba el biju: Houkou. Unos años mas tarde, cuando Lara cumplió los 13 años se graduó en la academia y fue asignada al equipo de Anko Mitarashi. Sus compañeros de equipo fueron Sekimaru Hitori y Yuki Hishida. Durante el entrenamiento para el examen de chunnin Lara desató el poder del biju que llevaba en su interior, perdiendo el control. Sekimaru intentó detenerla lo que provocó que recibiera un corte en el ojo. Desde entonces, Lara quiso aprender a controlar ese poder.

Lara utilizó el poder de Houkou para detener a Sasuke, pero fue en vano, ya que Sasuke tenía más poder gracias al sello maldito. Sasuke la dejó inconsciente y se fue.

Lara used the power to detain Houkou Sasuke, but in vain, since Sasuke had more power thanks to the damn label. Sasuke left her unconscious and left.
Yuki and Sekimaru Lara collected and taken to the hospital in Konoha.
